[…] If you’re someone that feels like you NEED fuller coverage, skip this one and go with their ColorStay formula […]
If you’re looking for a foundation that provides medium to full coverage but doesn’t feel like a mask (or break the bank), try Revlon’s ColorStay Foundation, $10. The lightweight liquid comes in 2 formulas (Combination/Oily Skin and Normal/Dry Skin), is oil-free, and has SPF protection.
I have combination skin, so I have to be careful with the type of foundation that I use; my T-Zone can get maaad oily on its own, even in the Winter. I always apply primer first, but some of the other formulas (even within the Revlon brand family) winded up creating this weird shiny tint on my face after a few hours – it made my complexion look a little ruddy. ColorStay doesn’t do that. I may get a bit of shine after a while (which is natural), but that’s it. It doesn’t flake either. The formula is creamy, and because it’s so lightweight, it dries quickly and won’t rub off on your clothes.
TIP:
Finger application is good but I don’t like a mess so I always apply foundation with a brush. The coverage is buildable and when applied with a brush, it creates a more uniform, flawless base. I recently switched from a foundation brush to a flat top wet/dry make-up brush (try this e.l.f. Studio Powder Brush, $3 – GREAT quality for an inexpensive price) and I like the finish even more. With a foundation brush you are “painting” your face, but with the wet/dry brush you’re moreso buffing it onto your face, so you use much less product and get a more airbrushed finish. After application, set with a light dusting of translucent powder and it will pretty much stay put for the rest of the day.
I’ve been using ColorStay for about 3 weeks now and while I’m unsure if it lasts the full 16-24 hours that’s touted in the advertising (who in the real world is wearing makeup that long?!), it’s done me well for a full shift at work, and when I’ve gone out on the town.

I’ve seen alot of buzz about this product. I’ve even stopped by the beauty aisle at Walgreens to get a first hand look. I’ve used similar products which so so results. I really want to try it though.

I was the same way – everytime I’d go to Target I’d stare at it and twirl it around in my hand but bc I was so tired of foundations doing that weird tint thing, I was hesitant. I watched a video by Dulce Candy though (she was using another foundation) but she recommended it and her makeup is always fab so I went on and bought it. Glad I did.

I’ve tried this before but wasn’t crazy enough about it to repurchase. You’re right though about the staying power–I don’t want to know what they put into makeup that would truly last 16 hours LOL

It is the active ingredient, Titanium D. that makes it stay on and finish the way it does. If you touch that stuff raw, or spill some on your clothes it is so hard to brush off because of its staying power.
