[…] 2017 allowed me work with a ton of brands (including Essence, Redbook Mag, WREG, Tanger Outlets, Lane Bryant, Shopbop, and Mass Mutual) thanks to my blog + Instagram, and I have a few freelance photography […]
I’ve always favored more subtle options when it comes to dressing up, so I look for tops and dresses that are a nice texture or have a fun detail that will keep the look from being boring. My personal style is classic with a twist, so I try to go for pieces that are versatile and can be worn to a multitude of events. This pretty flutter-sleeve velvet midi dress c/o Lane Bryant* is perfect for parties, weddings, and even a fun little date night.
The faux wrap style gives me the tiny illusion of having a waist, while the rich wine color helps to warm up my skin. It’s freezing in Memphis right now so I paired it with my favorite snakeskin heels (similar), gold earrings (similar) and a metallic clutch (similar), but I could easily wear it with strappy sandals.
Bonus? The material is stretchy, comfortable and fairly light weight (and also machine washable; yay!!), so I can actually wear this into early Spring as well.
One of my vows for 2018 is to go to more events and dinners that’ll allow me to dress up a little bit more. I felt so girly and pretty when I tried this on, and I love clothing that allows you to really embrace your femininity. I’m a tomboy at heart and grew into a “priss” as some of my friends would call me, and I like it when I find pieces that let me step a little more on the girlier side.
I have another gorgeous dress that I picked up from Lane Bryant (I attended an event earlier this month when their party dress collection dropped) so stay tuned!
