There are so many amazing local restaurants here in Memphis, so I try to dine at them as much as possible. The Liquor Store, a cute little diner off of Broad Avenue opened almost a year ago (and I’ve been a few times), but this was the first time I was able to snap some shots there while I ate. After a busy morning of shooting content with another creative this week (those days are the best) we were both hot and hungry and decided to pop in there for a quick bite.
It has such a cute, tropical vibe to it-you’ll want to visit it for the aesthetic alone. The owners Lisa + Luis Toro (they also own the coffee shop City + State and they are soooo nice!) have designed a restaurant unlike any other here: it’s a concept diner and bar, so it has both old school diner favorites (for ex: breakfast is served all day) and craft cocktails, but the Latin twist is what makes it so unique.
I had a meeting after lunch so I didn’t partake in any of the specialty cocktails, so I just noshed on an Impossible Burger with fries + some hard cider. I’m not vegan or even vegetarian, but I do enjoy the food, so this perfect for someone that’s craving a burger but doesn’t eat meat.
Now, if I had had more time (or could’ve taken a nap afterwards, lol), I would have gotten the Loaded Fries (Cuban pork, cheese, brown gravy, and black pepper aioli) and a Rum Sazerac (Barbancourt rhum, Cognac, sugar, bitters, Absinthe). The menu has a good mix of tried and true bites and more “experimental” fair, so there’s always something new for your taste buds.
It’s a cute spot for both date night and brunch with your friends (though be warned-it is PACKED on the weekends for brunch), so pop in when you get the chance. They just held a tasting a few days ago so you some new deliciousness is coming to the menu!
