Hollywood lost another icon today. Elizabeth Taylor was revered as one of the most beautiful women in the world, capturing our attention with both her talent and undeniable beauty. Throughout her career, she experimented with her looks (the slip dress she wore in Butterfield 8 is iconic, and in her later years she could be seen wearing elaborate headdresses, wraps, and oodles and oodles of jewels). While she made a few faux pas here and there, she always wore what she wanted and how she wanted (the unwritten rules that true fashionistas live by).
These are some of my favorite images of Taylor.
Fashion is cyclical, so you can easily see the influence of her style today.
About 6 years ago, TCM* had a triple feature of Taylor’s movies, Butterfield 8, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and Suddenly Last Summer. I drooled over her costuming from those films (the 50s and 60s are my favorite decades in fashion). The clothing during that time was so feminine and sexy without being over the top. She was a classic beauty (outside of her role in Cleopatra, she rarely deviated from her signature look), with a personality that was as mesmerizing as her violet eyes.
Elizabeth Taylor epitomized Hollywood glamour and her memory will live on.
On Sunday, April 10, TCM will remember and pay tribute to Taylor with a 24 hr maraton of her movies beginning at 6:00 a.m. (ET). Click here to see the schedule.

She’s such a beauty! If I looked like her, I would definitely wear stuff like her! Haha! Sadly no, she hasn’t influenced me with style, but instead with her beauty.

Lol yes, if I had her looks I’d be a problem!
I want to learn more about their beauty tricks from back in the day. I know good lighting played a big part but their skin and makeup was always flawless.
