A Day in the Life | Right Place, Right Time | KP FUSION
So last Friday, after running around with my friend Ava, I went with her to a photo shoot that she had with our friend Petey (owner of Strange Fruit Vintage) for their Spring Lookbook. Petey needed help bringing in everything so my inner intern kicked in. This was also a way for me to get a first look at all of the treasures that she’d found (sneaky I know lol). For some reason, many believe that photoshoots are easy breezy-models just have to show up and be pretty. They don’t realize all of the work that goes into setting things up: loading/unloading, steaming, sorting, coordinating looks, and helping the models get dressed and stay focused are a part of the process. Contrary to popular believe, you do have to WORK. I recently moved and from the looks of things my camera was misplaced *cries* so I only have my BB to take pics with until I can get a new one. I took a few pics of the products. Accessories Mens Womens SFV’s shoot was at our friend Darius’ studio (he snapped the pics on this City Style post). We had a great soundtrack playing (a mix of electronica, r&b, hip-hop, and pop) so everyone’s energy was high. I can’t wait for you guys to see these looks. As you may or may not know, SFV carries men’s and women’s urban 80s vintage, so it was fun modernizing the looks (but still keeping things funky fresh and cool). I was able to help style with the women’s looks as well so you know I was geeked about that. The shoot lasted a few hours and though I was tired, it just reinforced that this is what I want to do. I know that shoots won’t always be that exciting (we all knew each other so we were relaxed and being ourselves), but after working in positions where the only thing that excited you about the job was the pay, actually doing something you ENJOY makes all the difference in the world. With Memphis’ industry being as small as it is, opportunities like this don’t come too often, so I’m happy that I was in the right place at the right time. Be sure to visit Strange Fruit Vintage to see if there’s anything you like and to see the lookbook once it’s released. I’ll also keep you posted as well 🙂 Going for the Bow: LA shine for SBL Style Talk | Q & A with Scrapbook Originals Clothing Line
