Name: Valerie Hite Homebase: Nashville, TN Blog: Vogue and Coffee Month/Year Blog Launched: Earlier this year…not exactly sure of the date. How did you get into blogging? Many people on twitter kept asking about my blog or why I didn’t have one. I was encouraged to start a Tumblr. I am currently working on a lifestyle blog that will go live early next year. What has been the best thing about it? Hardest? It is a creative outlet for me. I enjoy having a voice about the fashion industry and the fact that people enjoy and respond to what I post is incredible. The hardest is finding the time to do devote to writing. Tumblr is great, but I want to do more. What do you do when you aren’t working on your blog? I am a bit of a workaholic, so I work a lot. I spend way too much time on line and have recently cut back quite a bit to focus on my French studies and get caught up on the pile of books that I have put off reading. On my days off, I am usually shopping or at Starbucks working/reading. Dream Job: I think the correct response is to work at Vogue, but I would also love to work for Marc Jacobs or Donna Karan. Turning vogue and coffee into more than a hobby would be a dream, as well. We’ll see where it takes me. Describe your look in five words: I wear what I want. Who/what influences your style? I adore the French and their effortless, chic style. Emmanuelle Alt, Kate Moss, and Olivia Palermo are strong influences. Who are some of your favorite designers? Always a difficult question for me to answer. Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan, Diane von Furstenberg, Michael Kors, and Tom Ford. Christopher Bailey is a genius at Burberry, Galliano is greatly missed, and McQueen was brilliant. I could go on and on and on… Where are some of your favorite places to shop? I am currently a Nordstrom addict. What’s one item in your wardrobe that you can’t live without? My Frye boots. What’s a classic item that every woman should own? A classic trench coat. Which trend(s) were you most excited to try this season? The cape and leather leggings. Fashion on Film: Which movies inspire you? Julie Christie in Shampoo and Dr. Zhivago, Rene Russo in The Thomas Crown Affair, Barbra Streisand in The Way We Were and Funny Girl and of course, The Devil Wears Prada. Three magazines that you MUST read monthly: Vogue US, Vogue Paris, Marie Claire Three items in your makeup bag: M.A.C. lipstick in Offshoot, M.A.C. Studio blend powder, and Maybelline Great Lash Mascara Favorite color of lipstick/lipgloss: M.A.C. Offshoot is my current favorite. Favorite color of nail polish Currently wearing Essie Sole Mate Words of (style) wisdom: Doubt means No. If you don’t love it, don’t wear/buy it. The most important question of all: cookies, cupcakes, or ice cream? Ice cream FTW!
