This past Friday I went to a fashion swap party to kick off the celebration of my friend Jenice’s birthday. If you’ve never been to one, a fashion swap party is where you and a group of friends (preferably 5 or more) each bring anywhere from 3 – 10 pieces from your closet that are still fashionable and in good condition, but you don’t have much use for anymore. You each pull a number and take turns “shopping” the merchandise (1 -3 pieces at a time) until everyone is satisfied. We enjoyed lemon drop martinis, cupcakes and more and because everyone that came had different tastes,we all were able to find a few things that we could make new.
For myself, I’m building my wardrobe for my studio (for future portfolio shoots), so I looked for pieces that were trendy yet classic, so that , depending on the shoot’s setting, they could be remixed with anything. I found a great pair of bright orange shorts (summer time!), colored bangles, a pair of patent pointed toe purple stilettos from Aldo, and a pair of zebra and cobalt blue peeptoes from Guess.
Also on the scene was Style Junkie’s owner Andrea Fenise. She brought in jewelry and a few other accessories to sell and I copped a sweet snake head bracelet (very Rachel Zoe!) and a huge drape/chain army tag necklace.
Jenice also gave us these super cute totes to keep our new treasures in (totally going to be my spring/summer errand bag).
All in all, I had a great time and I can’t wait to rock my new finds!
Have you been to a swap party before? What was your favorite find?
