[…] I got the sweetest goodie bag, which I’m reviewing here. […]
At the Pouts & Winks launch party I received a goodie bag that included their Imagination Eyeshadow Quad (purples & pinks), their Lasting Effects Single Shadow in Peach Daiquiri, Ultimate Eyeliner in Libido (eggplant with a hint of sparkle), and a Poutstick in Shopaholic (a berry color).
PACKAGING
Black and sleek. No fussy designs or fonts, just the logo, color and product size. The quad fits nicely into your makeup bag without taking up too much space, and the mirror is huge so you can actually see what you’re doing when applying! The color on the eyeliner is a true match so you know what you get when you buy.
PRODUCT
Imagination Eyeshadow Quad
The darker colors are pigmented well. A light tapping of your brush picks it up, and it’s easily buildable. The lighter 2, not so much. The colors show up but it’s a very sheer wash. The colors in the palette are all matte, but there is a very slight irredescent sheen to the pink shade and the lighter purple when you swipe it with your fingers, but it disappears once blended. The light beige color is for your brow bone and will work well as a highlighter. That, along with the lighter purple should be used as a base; they won’t show up that much worn alone.
Lasting Effects Single Shadow in Peach Daiquiri
A silky, peach w/a little bit of shimmer. Perfect for easy 5-minute faces, and also as a blender if you want to give a little depth a darker color.
Ultimate Eyeliner in Libido
Super creamy and blendable. I was in Ulta recently with MUA Merenda Morris and when she tested out a liner she said if it’s too hard to blend on your hand, it’s going to be even harder to blend on your eye, so keep that in mind when testing them out. This one slid right on when I drew it on my hand, and on my eye (didn’t even have to pull it).
Poutstick in Shopaholic
A pretty berry color that’s gives full coverage like a matte but it’s not as drying. I applied it straight out of the tube and it blended easily. Two swipes had me good to go.
THE LOOK
So, I hate having my picture taken but I didn’t have a face to draw on so I had no choice but to do it on myself, lol.
I wanted to do a daytime smoky look so I kept the color concentrated on my lid: I used the light purple color as a base, applied the pink color for a little brightness in the inner corner and then the dark purple (perfect for fall) to my full lid. I lined my entire eye, careful only to put it on my lower waterline and not smudge too much). I applied the peach daiquiri color & just a smidgen of a warm coffee color to my crease and blended well to make sure there were no hard lines.
I feel like I look awkward but whatever lol.
I’m also wearing:
N.Y.C. Smooth Skin Perfecting Primer
Maybelline BB Cream in Medium/Deep
E.L.F. Studio Cream Concealer in Medium
Brows: Essence Eyebrow Designer Pencil
Benefit High Beam Luminescent Complexion Enhancer
Cheeks: Loreal True Match Blush in Sweet Ginger
Bobbi Brown’s Longwear Mascara
After taking my picture I kept everything on for the rest of the night and I can say it all lasted well. Keep in mind, I applied my makeup for DAY. You can play with pretty colors without being over the top. If this would’ve been for a fun night out, I would’ve added in black eyeliner, lots more smudging, & possibly some lashes, but it would all be based on where I was going.
All in all, I like the products and definitely recommend them. My only tip is to do your eyes before you apply any concealor or foundation bc there was some fallout. If you’re more advanced with your technique, you can put loose powder under your eyes to sweep off when done or use the little fall-out guards that you can pick up at a beauty supply store.
