Thursday, April 4th was the kickoff to the 2nd annual Memphis Fashion Weekend, the city’s largest fashion event to help promote Memphis’ emerging fashion designers. Held at Alchemy, a cool and relatively new hot spot in the Cooper-Young District, the preview party was a chance for Media, Models, Sponsors, and runway show attendees to mix and mingle and do a little fashion talk. While I saw a lot of familiar faces, this was a fun night of networking for me: I connected with a few designers, some of the board members over the event (volunteer opp maybe next year???) other bloggers & Editors, and of course, got a little street style as well (because a girl never can have too much style inspiration). Some of the weekend’s Live Models: I absolutely loved this dress by Emerging Designer Tara Skelley (modeled by Peyton Couch). Colorblocking is still a big trend, and I love how it was done with accessories. Stylist & Fashion Editor Augusta Campbell & one of the male models for MFW. Models and MFW board member Tate Wilson (center). Floral suiting pieces are so hot this season! Model Ava Martin, Emerging Designer Najee Strickland, and model/coach Taneika Carter Me & Model Ava. Coincidence that we’re both in blazers? Maybe-they do say great minds think alike, lol. (I lucked up on that blazer at Old Navy for less than $20!) Bright pops of color paired with tribal & graphic prints. Definitely a trend to try this season. Handbag designer Elly Deyhle. How cute is her clutch?! Designer Tara Skelley & friend.
