I recently *received a sample from BA STAR, one of the top cosmetics brands for cheerleading, dance, and competition makeup. They offer a large selection of shadows, eyeliners, pigments, blushes/bronzers, tools, and more. I received their Natural Eye Shadow Palette: First things first: I was very impressed that the palette looked exactly as it did on the website; many times, colors are sometimes distorted and the pigments look brighter/darker than they actually are, so this was a relief. The palette contains 3 mineral shadows in bronze, cocoa, and nude, and 2 gel glitter shadows in gold and crystal. It also has a double-sided applicator. I swatched the shadows: The shadows are super creamy, soft, and pigmented. Buildable, the more you layer, the stronger the color gets (the swatches above are 3 layers). The gel glitters aren’t heavily packed, so depending on how much you want to “sparkle” you will have to layer it. I’m not a huge fan of glitter (only on special occasions), so those 2 shadows would not get used that much, however I really liked the mineral shadows. I layered the 3 colors for a slightly smoky day look and once dry, the color pretty much stayed put-WITHOUT primer. With warmer weather quickly approaching, this is definitely a good sign because you don’t want makeup melting off your face, and you may not always have time to apply primer beforehand. VERDICT: I would definitely purchase this product (especially if they ever create mineral shadow only palettes). At only $8.75, it’s a quality product at an extremely affordable price. If you participate in high performance activities (gymnastics or fitness competitions) this is a great product to have in your bag! TIP: Apply colors with a small flat brush or a sponge applicator for the most impact. The nude color is a little flaky, so only apply a little at a time.
