[…] And last, but not least, we said our hello’s to Kim Thomas of KP Fusion who put us on Cloud 9 with her all-too-kind words about our Memphis launch which you can read all about here! […]
This past Sunday, I stopped by Hoot + Louise for Home & Hill’s magazine launch. Home & Hill is a new publication based out of Cookville, TN and all about my fabulous home-state, Tennessee.
A well curated tomb of essays, profiles, photography, travel, and culinary delights, Home & Hill prints quarterly and actually feels more like a coffee table book; the pages are a heavier, thicker weight, and the photography has a warmth to it that you don’t typically see in publications. This is easily a magazine you can curl up with on your couch on a lazy Sunday.
Hoot + Louise’s owner, Anna Avant, is one of the featured profiles, so it was only fitting that they have a soft launch with her.
Love her look. She made her bandeau top from vintage fabric.
I had a chance to chat with the Editor, Anna Gilbert & Callie Milburn a little about how the magazine started (Anna always wanted to be a writer and decided, well, why not!) and some of their travels for issue one.
Tennessee truly is a vast state with so many hidden (and unhidden) gems. They were only able to see a handful of sites here in Memphis, so hopefully they will be able to come back soon to see more (and I promise by then I will have been to Graceland, lol.)
Always on a hunt for fashion (this is a fashion blog, right?!) I snapped a few pics of the store and a little street style:
(How cute is her romper? And you can never go wrong with a pleated pink skirt).
Elle from Beale Street Chic was there. Midi length skirts are on trend right now; take a style cue and have fun shopping vintage & thrifting to save on it!
I want all the things lol.
FINALLY got a chance to wear this green halter dress that I was gifted from eshakti earlier this year (thank you!). If you’ve never ordered from them, they design dresses that you can customize. I call myself a “tall short person” but let’s be honest, I’m only 5″3 so I requested for the length to be shortened. I thought the keyhole was pretty cool, and I like how the waist nips in. Oh, AND IT HAS POCKETS! That, my dear, makes for a great summer dress. I paired it with a zebra print cardi from Banana Republic & flat sandals from Target (I had 2 other events to go to that day so no heels).
I had a great time at the event and will definitely be following Home & Hill’s journey. If you would like to order a magazine, Hoot + Louise and Burke’s Books are stockists. You can also order online from their site www.homeandhill.com. The magazine is $16+ tax, and contains 0 ads.
If you’re in Nashville, they will be having a launch party Thursday, September 5, at The Bang Candy Company from 6p-8p. The ladies are super sweet and funny, so definitely stop by and say hello.
