Ever find yourself in a beauty rut but not sure what you want to switch up? Spend hours pouring over NYFW images on style.com for inspiration and see a lot of cool looks, but don’t know what you should test? Trust, I’ve been there.
Now that the season has changed, it’s time to have some fun, so I spoke with Memphis-based MUA Dominique Chaney to find out what are a few beauty trends to try this season for eyes, cheeks, and lips:
EYES
“Some of the must see looks on the runway this Fall were the autumn hued eyeshadows. The shades were very reminiscent of the falling leaves: oranges, browns, coppers, purples, and reds.”
Try L’Oreal’s HiP Metallic Duo in Charged to recreate the look from J. Mendel’s Show.
“Looking for a bolder look? Try extreme winged/cat eyeliners in various shades like at Kenzo.”
Try Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil.
“Or, go for glitter eyeshadows for an extra pop on the lids as seen at Thakoon.”
To make Thakoon’s A/W 13 look more wearable, layer a gold shimmery shadow over a navy blue base. Try Nyx’s Glam Shadow in Golden Chamber.
LIPS:
“Another trend on the runway was rich red and wine lipcolors, as seen at Vera Wang. This is a must have for every woman’s personal makeup collection.”
Try Tom Ford Beauty’s Lipcolor in Bruised Plum.
CHEEKS
“With such bold lip colors and eye trends, it is only right to pair it with something more subtle on the cheeks. Flushed cheeks [a hint of color] will compliment a dark eye or rich lip.”
Cult-classic NARS Blush in Orgasm will do the trick.
EXTRAS!
“As for products to try this fall, check out Maybelline’s VOLUM’ EXPRESS® Falsies Big Eyes Mascara. It is a dual mascara with a wand for the bottom lashes and a wand for the upper lashes. Its gives good coverage, is waterproof, and it really gets close to the bed of the lashes to give a voluminous look. Quick tip: If you want to separate the upper lashes more, use the small wand. It gives a more wide eyed look.
The last makeup product for your fall must haves, is NYX’s “The Curve” Eyeliner. It is a curved eyeliner with a place to rest the point finger to help with an easy application. The liner is very black, long lasting, and great for anyone beginner or pro.”
