Forever on the hunt for the perfect primer, I recently picked up Rimmel London’s Stay Matte Primer. A lightweight skin perfecting formula, it was created to minimizes pores while keeping makeup in place for more than 8 hours. I tested it out because with Spring literally around the corner, I wanted a primer that would help my makeup last w/o it being too dry (I like a slightly dewier look in the warmer seasons).
When I first opened it, I knew it would work because it’s THICK, like a luxe lotion. It’s not heavy by any means, but I knew the consistency would form a real layer on my face (unlike some of the others that hydrate but that’s about it). My makeup lasted around 6 hours w/o any touchups so I was happy with the results.
The key? Let it sit on your face about 1-3 minutes before you apply your foundation. This allows it to really meld to your skin, so even if you have moisturizer on up under it (I have to skip it with some primers bc of my combo skin), it will form a thin layer for your foundation to adhere to. Some matte primers can change how your foundation looks but even with my Loreal True Match LUMI Foundation, it held it in place but my skin still glowed. At only $6.99 it’s a great beauty buy.
