To say I have a sweet tooth is an extreme understatement. Addiction might closer describe my affinity to sweet treats, especially cupcakes. (Hey, we all have our vices). I by no means discriminate with my cravings, but there’s nothing quite like the yumminess of a cupcake. I mean, it’s a cup o’ cake-what other gooey dessert can you eat while walking without worry of spilling it on yourself??
Anyhoo, I was headed to the bookstore recently and decided to make a detour at Frost Bake Shop in Laurelwood. I always go for strawberry, but I decided to pick up some additional flavors as well (for um, research. yea, yea..)
Locally and family owned, Frost has been in business since 2004 and initially only provided their desserts to restaurants and delis. After expanding their specialty cake business to the public, last August they opened their retail bakeshop in Laurelwood.
Everything-seriously, EVERTYHING- is made from scratch, so there’s no worry about quality. The best cupcakes get both the cake (moist yet fluffy) and the icing ( creamy but not saccharine sweet) right. Frost strikes the perfect balance. And amazingly, the cupcakes are only $2 each, so with their vast menu, you can treat your friends or coworkers without breaking the bank. How awesome is that?
While the strawberry is still my fave, the Memphis Cream (banana, peanut butter, chocolate flavors) struck a high point. The ladies working that day always had me try the carrot cake (to die for), so next time I’m getting red velvet!
