Finding a setting powder that isn’t a) super cakey or b) too yellow or talchy) isn’t as easy as it should be, however a few weeks ago I picked up Cover FX Illuminating Setting Powder and I think I may have found my holy grail.
I’d seen people periodically raving about Cover FX on Twitter, but I’ve always been last to hop on the hype train so I didn’t think twice about it. One day I ran into Sephora to look around and picked up a deluxe sample size (only $10; full size is $32) and I was pleasantly surprised when I used it. It comes in two shades light (completely sheer) and medium (sheer with warmth).
I picked up the medium since it was a darker warm tone, and I first only used it to set my undereye concealer but now I do a light dusting all over. It’s a finely milled luminous loose powder that has a slight brightening effect so skin glows. It goes on really sheer and absorbs oil, so my concealer stayed put all day which is HUGE for me considering I have oily eyelids. The finish isn’t matte, so if you still want to have the dewy look going on with your makeup (which is my fave look), you can achieve it and it will keep the product from sliding off of your face.
TIP:
Use a small dome brush to set a thin layer under eyes, or use a large fluffy brush for your entire face. The deluxe sample is .14 oz and is more than enough to get you through a season as long as it’s applied this way-there’s no reason to go overboard with it.
