Inspired by a Rachel Pontious painting, Sylvie Millstein’s SS15 Hellessy Collection captured her goal of combining both art + beauty, with a little dark minimalism thrown in. “I wanted to dress an aesthete,” Millstein has said. “A woman who loves art and beauty, who browses art galleries in Brooklyn and Chelsea. And this is her.”
Effortlessness seems to be a recurring theme for the SS15 season. Versatility is now one of the main filters at the forefront, with one’s personal style directing the looks. Silhouettes are more streamlined but still soft, with a focus being moreso on luxe fabrications and smaller details than an overarching statement making piece or color. The impact is subtle but still very profound.
