Yesterday I had the pleasure of celebrating Génifique Day at Lancôme (Dillard’s Wolfchase) for the #LancomeGivesBack Campaign for St. Jude. All month long, participating Lancôme counters gave complimentary makeovers, with attendees receiving a sample of their Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate Serum, and a portion of the proceeds from the sale of Génifique going to St. Jude.
Celebrity MUA Mickey Williams has been traveling across the country doing in-store makeovers and educating about the campaign, and I don’t mean to fan-girl out, but she is the sweetest!
When I first arrived, I talked with one of their makeup artists while I snapped a few pics of Mickey doing what she does best.
We then removed my makeup and applied a few skincare products (for my combination skin):
- BIENFAIT PURE FOCUS (Matifying Moisturizing Lotion)
- VISIONNAIRE Advanced Skin Corrector (Wrinkles + Pores)
- ADVANCED GÉNIFIQUE Youth Activating Concentrate (helps even skin tone)
- GÉNIFIQUE EYE LIGHT-PEARL™ Eye-Illuminating Youth Activating Concentrate (helps with puffiness)
After prepping my skin (I felt totally refreshed), she applied a primer. I hate my pores and my skin eats up makeup, so we used the LA BASE PRO PORE ERASER), and then matched my foundation, concealer, and powder. It’s been a while since I tested out their products, so we went with the TEINT IDOLE ULTRA 24H Foundation, the MAQUICOMPLET Complete Coverage Concealer (2 shades), and the DUAL FINISH Powder. Because I have both pink and yellow undertones, I typically mix my foundation, but I was able to find a perfect match in the TEINT IDOLE. It has a natural finish and is medium to full coverage, so it’s buildable without looking cakey. The concealer was so creamy, which I need because my undereye area is dry, and after setting my foundation with powder, I had a pretty flawless base. My skin didn’t look flat, so if I wanted to just add mascara and a touch of blush I could have and it would have looked completely natural but polished.
Once my base was set, I moved over to Mickey’s chair and we talked about SO much. As she did my makeup (we decided on a pino noir lip + bronzy smokey eyes), I learned about her background:
- (she knew was destined to do makeup at age 5 when she went to school with a full face of makeup. She also attended a special effects makeup school in the earlier part of her career).
- She told me about some of her favorite celebs she’s worked on (Drew Barrymore, who is as fun and lovely as everyone thinks she is, and Penelope Cruz, who truly is drop dead gorgeous in person. Also, Queen Latifah has pretty flawless skin and doesn’t really need foundation).
- I also learned how she began working with Lancome for the Génifique Day campaign (she was already pretty philanthropic on her own so it was a natural fit. This is her 3rd year).
She was so personable and down to earth, so it’s no surprise that she’s an in-demand makeup artist, spokesperson, and on-air beauty expert. She’s done so much in her 20 year career, so it was very inspiring talking to someone who created a personal brand before it became all the rage. Her secret? Just be natural. Be comfortable talking to all kinds of people, learn your craft, and really “read” your clients. She can do any type of makeup, but her signature is the eyes. The reason she gave me a smoky bronze eye with a little kitty wing at the end was because she could sense a little mischievousness behind mine (spot on assessment, I tell you, lol).
We gabbed a little more about some of her favorite products and she shared her 2 favorite Fall beauty trends from the runway. Her suggestion this season is to either keep it earthy-think bronzy cheeks, forest green shadow on the lids-or go all out vamp.
The finished look:
Eyes: Color Design Shadow in Pose, AQUATIQUE Waterproof Base (Holiday Shade in Darkroom) Artliner 24H in Black Diamond, and GRANDIÔSE Wide-Angle Fan Effect Mascara
Cheeks: BLUSH SUBTIL in Shimmer Rouge in Love
Lips: Rouge in Love High Potency Lipstick in Berry in Love, Le Lipstique Lip Pencil in Mauvelle, La Laque Fever Lipshine in Plum Wave
If you follow me on IG you can see an even closer look at the eyes (the copper color layered over the black was gorgeous. Love, love, loved it). We talked a little bit MORE (I couldn’t shut up because she was so cool and it was like talking to a friend, lol), and then we took a photo together at the photobooth:
I had so much fun and send huge hugs and kisses to the Lancome team for inviting me out. xoxo!
