Last year I lucked up on 2 pleated midi skirts at work (someone returned them from online + I got them both for less than $20!), and while I have a signature way that I wear them (Parisianesque with a striped tee, long pendant and a bright bold lip), I’m obsessed with finding more ways to style them this Fall.
For whatever reason I didn’t think the style would be flattering on me because I’m short (5’3), but I’ve found that with most dresses and skirts that come below the knee, if it has an elastic waistband, I can go down a size, and it typically makes it a better fit and perfect length for any style shoe.
That being said, this season I want to play a little more with texture (they’re both a chiffon like material), color, and layers. If you’re like me and aren’t sure how you can mix it up, here are 10 ways that you can wear a pleated midi skirt:
TOPPED WITH A LEATHER JACKET + SCARF
WITH A STATEMENT NECKLACE + LEOPARD PRINT HANDBAG
WITH A CLASSIC STRIPED BLOUSE + NEUTRAL ACCESSORIES
WITH PREPPY PEARLS + PLATFORMS
WITH AN EMBELLISHED SWEATSHIRT + MINIMAL JEWELRY
WITH A CHUNKY KNIT + ACCENT COLOR
WITH A SWEATSHIRT, RETRO EYEWEAR + PRINTED SKIMMERS
WITH BALLET FLATS + A PATTERNED SCARF
WITH OPAQUE TIGHTS + PASTEL COLORED CARDIGAN
WITH A GRAPHIC TEE + STRAPPY SANDALS
In addition to the styling above, a chambray shirt, black and tan ankle booties, and a few bright cardigans will need to be added to my shopping list. My skirts are navy and blue, so I have many options to build around them.
