I had the most amazing time styling my friend Aviana for Dillard’s Belle Badgely Mischka Styling Suite Contest yesterday. In celebration of their one year anniversary of carrying the brand, Dillard’s launched a fun social media contest and invited bloggers out to style one of their dresses in the store. Aviana came through for me in the clutch, and I’m so happy with the final look. When we first arrived at the Wolfchase location, I pulled a few dresses for Aviana to try on; she recently cut bangs so I knew I wanted to go for a slightly edgier model off duty party look. Although we’re approaching holiday, I didn’t want to pick a dress that was obvious. We went through a few, but I pretty much knew what the winner would be. After finalizing the dress, we headed down to Cosmetics to glam it up. I wanted to do a soft smoky eye and peachy-pink lip, so after looking around, I decided to head over to Lancôme. Beverly McCain one of their freelance artists was in (I worked with her during their Gentrifique Day a few weeks ago), and she created exactly what I wanted. While Aviana got her makeup done, I found shoes + accessories. Voila! I paired it with lace cut booties, but it can be worn with tights + boots, or topped with a blazer or chunky knit cardigan. I kept the neckline clean because Aviana’s hair was down, but you can do a statement necklace and even pearls with it to shake it up a bit. I truly believe in investing in pieces that can be worn multiple ways during the season.
