I have a massive sweet tooth, so when Gigi’s Cupcakes invited me to try out their new holiday pies I was like “um, yea!” I’m a cupcake girl through + through, but during the holiday season, my tastebuds start to crave pie and coffee after a warm, hearty meal.
For those that don’t know, Gigi’s Cupcakes started in Nashville (2008), so with the company having Southern roots you KNOW they can make a mean pie. The 2 flavors they offer at the moment are the Southern Comfort Pecan Pie (a sweet but not saccharin whiskey-flavored filling w/a ton of nuts) and the Ginger Snap Pumpkin Pie (super creamy with just the right amount of ginger flavor woven in). I’m a girl that likes options, so I picked up some of the mini pies to sample.
It was hard for me to choose a favorite because they’re both actually pretty good, but I’m leaning towards the South Comfort Pecan Pie. This is a flavor that I rarely eat, but the filling is creamy and the nuts have a nice little crunch, so it’s covering many bases and let’s me indulge without going overboard.
I love the fact that they’re offered as minis as well as full pies. If you’re responsible for covering dessert at family dinner or a work holiday party, you can bring options without fear of wasting food, and you can pop into one of the stores to grab them so that they’re fresh. Dessert on the go!
To place an order for your holiday soiree, visit www.gigiscupcakesusa.com/gigis-holiday-pies. The Ginger Snap Pumpkin Pie is only available through Thanksgiving (Southern Comfort Pecan Pie is available through Christmas). They come in both 3″ and 9″ sizes.
