Expanding the content of this blog caused me to expand the content of my craft supply + photography prop box. While in Michael’s a few weeks back, I picked up some striped wrapping paper to use on a shoot, + wondered, how else could I use it? I didn’t have anything specific at the time, but flash forward a week and after playing with some ribbon on my hurricane vases, I picked up the wrapping paper and thought hey, this could be a cute budget friendly DIY for an event tabletop or a work space. The cool thing about it is that you can switch it out whenever you want a change, and play with the dimensions of the vases.
What you’ll need:
- Cylinder Vases (get these from anywhere. I picked mine up years ago at the Dollar Store)
- Striped Wrapping Paper (make sure it’s a heavier weight so that it won’t easily rip)
- Scissors
- Double Sided Tape
- Flower bouquet -fresh or faux (which mine are)
Place vase on sturdy surface. Tape free edge to vase, then wrap with paper, slightly overlapping so that you’ll have a continuous clean line. Tape top + bottom of paper crossover to secure, then use scissors to cutaway excess paper. Add bouquet. Voila!
It’s seriously that simple. Mine have been wrapped for a few weeks and haven’t budged. I used faux flowers, but you can definitely use fresh ones. Just be careful with the water so that you don’t ruin your new masterpiece, lol.
What’s a simple home DIY you’ve come across?
