Maybelline recently updated their Fit Me foundation formula to include a Matte + Poreless version ($7.99) and I am in love! I previously tested out the Fit Me Foundation when it was first released a few years ago but the experience was just meh; the shades were a little off, and it oxidized a lot so I had to mix it with others in order to get a match and not look ruddy. The new Matte + Poreless collection still has that light-weight feel (as if you’re wearing nothing), but because it’s designed for normal to oily skin, the shade range has been updated slightly (there are 16 now), so it’s now a perfect match (I’m 322 (Warm Honey).
The formula dries relatively quickly so you have to move fast but it is buildable, so you can do a sheer wash or full coverage and it won’t look cakey. My pores on my cheeks are kinda insane so I’ve yet to find one that hides them 100% but this one comes close. After I do a sheer wash, I apply a little more to my cheek area for more coverage. It even hides hyper-pigmentation spots well. It dries to a matte, almost satiny natural finish and doesn’t transfer, so you can hug people without it moving every where. I want to try out the Dewy formula next (because I love a dewy look) but right now I’m really happy with the results.
TIP
You can apply with your hands, but I prefer to switch between a flat blending brush and a beauty blender. Real Technique’s brushes are the bomb and relatively inexpensive. Also, if you apply a primer and set with a light dusting of powder, your foundation should last at least 6-8 hours w/minimal touch-ups.
