I’ve always been that weirdo that wished they wore glasses (they can add such a cool factor to your look), so when Eclectic Eye invited me to their Chanel SS15 Collection launch at their Midtown location last week, I knew I had to go by.
Since opening their midtown boutique in 2002, Eclectic Eye has been the go-to destination, for funky, fashionable eye-wear in Memphis. Sure you can still get classic frames + sunnies there, but if you’ve ever seen someone in unique frames, chances are their got it from Eclectic Eye.
Their stylish rep Misty was there to give us an overview of the full collection, which was especially fun for me because I learned a lot of new history behind the Chanel brand, and how, even though the collections are updated for modern times, there’s still a bit of nostalgia embedded into the designs. Every piece has a history behind it, so not only does it make you want to shop the collection, but to also go out and watch a few documentaries on Coco + the fashion house (any recommendations?)
Designer eye-wear is typically a person’s first introduction into luxury goods, so it makes sense to learn as much as you can behind the brand to ensure it’s a great fit for you. I tried on the Pantos Sunnies in red (what better to go with my bright yellow Ann Taylor blouse?) because I’m not a big label person, so I liked how subtle the design was. Cute riiight??
Ran into Beth Wilson and I looove the oversized frames she tried on. So Jackie-O.
From the Chain Collection. Edgy, no?
The stones in these were designed to “mirror” the famous mirrored staircase in Coco Chanel’s apt. I learned that whenever she had previews of her new designs, she would hide and watch her guests through the mirrors so that she could see their honest reactions to her collections. How neat is that?
Part of the Quilting Collection. Super soft yet sturdy leather that can mold to your face but be easily cleaned.
Of course I roamed through the rest of the store. They carry frames by Anne et Valetin, Francis Klein Paris, Retrospecs & Co, SALT. OPTICS and so many more.
The sweet Eyewear Architects Sara + Rebecca. Chic frames w/a bright lip? Love it!
Isabelle tried on a pair of Chanel frames in taupe, which is super on-trend in eyewear this season. They’re flattering on just about every skintone, so I can see why. If I wore glasses I’d totally get these.

I had so much fun visiting with their team (thank you Ms. Robbie!) I even learned how to reset frames if they’re too loose (yes, I’m a goober), and will be back to pick out a pair soon!
