[…] Claire has had her own candle company for years (which are phenomenal, btw. I wrote about it here), so who better to learn from? The shop’s airy space made for the perfect backdrop, and I […]
Every once in a while you luck up on a gem in a goodie bag. Such was the case when I went to a bridal show a few months ago and mine included a candle from Mary Claire White Candle Co. Locally owned, Mary Claire has been making candles since 2001, and launched her Etsy Shop in 2005. Recently she introduced a few new scents to her collection, which can be found locally at Trolley Stop Market, Five in One Social Club, Spruce, and at a few other stockists around town.
I’ve had the pleasure of running into Mary Claire a few times over the last few months and she’s such a cool lady. She has a few other fun projects in the works, but I’ll keep this post about her candles! The candles are soy-based, which means they are eco-friendly and burn cleanly without releasing toxins. Plus they burn cooler and last longer, which is perfect for someone who enjoys burning candles throughout the day (ala me).
Anyone that knows me knows that I’m a candle junkie, so I actually had to wait a bit before I burned this one (and I’m so glad I did). They’re fragrant but not over-powering, so they’re a nice complement to the home. They aren’t the typical scents that you’d find in-store (the combinations are a little more complex and unique), so if you’re someone that’s looking for a signature home fragrance, these are great for that. You can also get smaller versions made as favors too, so that’s a fun option for party/bridal gifts.
The small batch candles retail between $14-$18 (8oz-10oz) with a burn time of 60-70 hours. Currently there are 13 different fragrances with unique combinations to choose from: Mediterranean Fig, Green Tea + Lemongrass and Grapefruit + Mangosteen are on my list!
