Last night I fell down a Pinterest rabbit-hole looking for a little outfit inspiration and after a few spirals I realized that um, I need some distressed denim asap!
I know what you’re thinking (really Kim, you don’t own a pair already???), but I have had the hardest time finding a pair of distressed jeans that fits the way that *I* need them to fit. I want both a dark + light rinse, and I need them to:
- have a little bit of stretch, but not too much (I hate when jeans stretch out and you spend all day yanking at them)
- to actually cover up my bum and not be too low-rise (I am not a plummer)
- and while I do love the way the boyfriend denim looks, I look better in a skinny fit. It’s not to say that I can’t be persuaded to try a pair out, I’ve just yet to find any that didn’t make me look really stumpy 🙁
There’s just something about the way they give a simple tee a little bit of an edge, while simultaneously playing of the chicness of a killer pair of heels that makes them a wardrobe staple. I’m personally not a fan of the huge rips, but I think anyone can pull off a distressed pair when styled right.
My go-to denim at the moment are Old Navy’s Sweetheart Jeans, but the distressed ones I tried months ago seemed to be irregular in fit so I skipped them. If you have any recommendations for any, please let me know below; in the meantime, here are a few looks that I want to recreate (once I find my HG pair!)

that you, Ari! I really, really want some. I’ve moved away from denim a bit bc it’s so hot but I need a pair to make my wardrobe complete!
