When I learned that the Brooks Museum would be screening IRIS, the documentary film by director Albert Maysles (Grey Gardens) on July 26th, I squealed with joy. Unless you’ve been under a rock for the last few years, you know that Iris Apfel is a 94 year old spitfire + style maven who’s been on the fashion scene’s radar since 2005, after she curated an exhibition for The Met using clothing and accessories from her own personal collection (Rara Avis: Selections from the Iris Apfel Collection). The film IRIS follows Apfel over a 3 year period and offers viewers a glimpse into her creative, stylish life.
She is the bees knees.
The movie starts at 2pm and tickets are $9/$5 for Brooks Members (be smart + pre-order your tickets like me, lol). This is the ONLY screening scheduled for Memphis, so you don’t want to miss it!
If you’re able to come a little early, my friend Andrea Fenise will be hosting a Meet + Greet during Brunch at The Brushmark starting at 12:45p (see the menu here. I have 5 days to prepare).
It will be a stylish afternoon of fashion, food + film, so wear something cute and let’s have some fun!
