A few weeks ago I had the chance to give my first Basics of Blogging presentation! The Montgomery, AL chapter of AAF (American Advertising Federation) invited to me speak at a Lunch + Learn; in addition to my presentation, they held the induction of their 2015-2016 Board Members, so I had the pleasure of meeting them, and learning a little about their history while talking to people about blogging.
It was a whirlwind trip (I was there less than 24 hours), so I didn’t get to tour the city. I stayed at Renaissance Montgomery Hotel & Spa, located in downtown Montgomery; the hotel itself is gorgeous, and they’re revitalizing downtown so there were a ton of restaurants and bars to pop in.
Dinner was at Wintzell’s Oyster House, were I had fish tacos (my go-to) + sweet potato fries. The waitress was super sweet and the food was delicous. Liiiiike, there is something about that combo that is just the bomb.com.
The next morning I went over to the Capital City Club, which is were the luncheon was being had. After the Board Member inductions, we had lunch and I gave my presentation.
I was so nervous. While I give my own workshops, there’s still something really intimidating about being in a setting that isn’t under *my* control, but I was able to condense my 3 hour class into 20 minutes (whew!) and I received great feedback from their Board Members and attendees. My presentation turnout was one of the largest ones they’ve ever had!
I’m so thankful for this opportunity, and I hope I get to do more of these. I’ll be doing another workshop in Memphis next month so if you’re interested in learning about blogging for yourself or your small business, stay tuned!
