Beauty Buy | Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Full Coverage Foundation | KP FUSION
Maybelline has been killing it with their products lately, so I decided to try out the SuperStay Better Skin Full Coverage Foundation ($11.99), their latest foundation. Designed to be a long-wear formula that helps improve skin as you wear it, it’s medium-to-full coverage, for all skin types, and is suppose to help with reducing the appearance of spots, dullness and uneven skin tone. I love hybrid foundations that can mimic skin while providing nice coverage, so I was excited to finally try this out. I have combination to oily skin and am typically told to avoid foundations that don’t have a matte finish, but I actually do the opposite. I WANT skin that looks healthy and luminous, and matte formulas, though pretty in pictures, tend to feel tight on my skin unless I mix them with another product or set with a dewy finishing spray. This foundation makes me look so glowy, in a good way. It’s not heavy, has a natural finish, and is buildable without being cakey. I wouldn’t say it’s full-coverage, though-I feel like the consistency is too thin for that to be possible. It also has just enough yellow in it so my shade (Warm Honey) matches me perfectly. That’s HUGE for me, because while I like mixing different formulas sometimes, I do my makeup on the go a LOT, so I need to be able to just put it on without thinking twice. It only comes in 12 shades, though, which is something I hope they expand in the future because I feel like this is a great formula for women that are easing into foundation and want something that still let’s your skin show through. As far as being long-wearing, on a day when I wore it from 10am-9pm, I started to see a little shine breakthrough on my forehead around 3pm, with my full t-zone being oily by 8pm. This was on a day that was slightly humid with a high of 72, and I didn’t have on a primer, just a pore minimizer (which are NOT the same thing), and a very light dusting of setting powder, so I gotta say, that’s damn good. Also, it didn’t oxidize on me, which was a plus. If anything, the longer I wore it, the prettier my makeup looked. TIPS I have yet to find a foundation brush that I love so I applied this with a slightly damp sponge; 1.5 pumps will even out your skin, 2-3 pumps will be give you medium coverage. If you feel like you’ve applied too much, wait 1-2 minutes and then re-tap skin with sponge so that it will soak up any excess. And as always, apply it with a primer that works with your skin-type for optimal results, and set with powder to help prevent transferring.
