There’s nothing like finally finding those patterned pieces that will help you solidify those sartorial aspirations, and a quick trip to Old Navy gave my wardrobe a much-needed boost. So, I’ve always wanted a buffalo plaid shirt, but could never find one I 100% love. Either the fit would be wrong (too tight through the bust/too long), or the pattern would be slightly off, or it would be some weird button up/pullover combination (which I hate. Seriously, either or people!). I stopped by Old Navy recently looking for something else, but lo and behold they had some cute boyfriend plaid flannel shirts in stock ($24), and I was able to luck up on my size! It comes in a range of colors, but I made a beeline for the lumberjack print because I felt like I could get the most wear out of it. It can be paired with black/white/dark denim, and will even work with my new brown booties. Brown + black can be worn together when brown is treated as the accent color. After finding the shirt I had to test my shopping luck so I ventured over to their quilted zip vests ($34). I’d seen them before and had thought about picking up a navy one, but they had in a black herringbone print that was eerily similar to the one that J. Crew did a few years ago so that had to go home with me as well. It’s not huge, so I won’t look like I’m going out to work in the field, and it’s gonna look great with my black skinnies (which are from Old Navy too. They’re a mid-rise fit, ankle length, and slim but not tight, so legs just look long and lean. You can wear them with flats or tuck them into knee boots as well, which is always a plus). Old Navy has really stepped up their quality + fit the last few seasons, so I never leave disappointed. Now if only the weather would cooperate so I can finally break my new pieces out!
