Last week I was a busy little bee: on Thursday, Joseph celebrated their 85th anniversary + had one helluva party! For those not familiar, Joseph is one of the top five retail operations in the U.S., outside of the Neiman Marcus group and Saks, in sales of designer shoes and handbags, as well as jewelry, apparel and cosmetics. There’s another location in Houston, but their history began here in Memphis in 1930. Joseph is the place to go to if you’re looking for luxury goods. DVF, Louboutin, Valentino, Lanvin, Stuart Weitzman, Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik, Pedro Garcia: you name it, it’s here.
Fantastic fashion was pulled from the archives (1930s-2015) and installed in the windows by Stylist (and one of my fashion boos) Augusta Campbell. Couple that with a dope DJ (seriously, his mixes floated through genres and blended perfectly), yummy treats and strooong drinks (grapefruit martinis, I love you), everyone who came had a stylishly good time.
Ms. Augusta + Ari. Augusta is such a talented stylist. So friendly, so open, and just an overall kickass chick!
One day I will learn the requisite fashion blogger pose. I just… *moving along…* This look was everything. So let me tell you about Ari + Aii-Meka. Aii-Meka began working with me over a year ago, and she immediately reminded me of Ari, from their features, mannerisms, interests, everything. I constantly told them about each other (they both were like yea, whatever) but they FINALLY met that night. At one point, I had to walk away because they are so much alike it’s hilarious. They bonded over the fashion (of course) and at the end of the night, the newly minted “soul sisters” discovered that they share the same birthday, just a few years apart! DID I CALL IT OR DID I CALL IT????? Ha!
I love when events like this occur in the city because you really get the see how much style lives here. Our fashion community is small but mighty, and every day it’s growing!
