Over the weekend I chopped off a big chunk of my hair (birthday is in a few weeks + I needed a change), and because shorter hair always makes me feel a little sassy, I knew I had to rock a red lip when I went out on Saturday. Ruby Woo used to be my go-to red, but lately I’ve been reaching for a warmer, more corally hue- NYX’s Matte Lipstick in Pure Red. It’s a vibrant, poppy shade that can be worn anytime, and while it’s called pure red, it’s not as scary to wear as a traditional shade. Plus, all you need is a little bit color on your cheeks + mascara and you’re set. I grabbed this color after shooting with Vera with Red Velvet Vintage + being obsessed with how pretty it looked on her. I literally went and bought it after we wrapped up our shoot, lol. It was just the right pop of color to go against my pine green “knock out” sweatshirt from Banana Republic. I love NYX’s matte lipsticks because they have a touch of creaminess so they aren’t drying, and they seriously last all day long-you will only need a slight touch up if you eat something. AND *drumroll* they’re only $6 bucks! You can’t beat that. I applied this at 10:30 am and it stayed in place until I made it home around 11:00pm that night.
