If you follow me on Instagram + Snapchat (@kpfusion), you know that a few weeks ago I worked with London-based Illustrator (+ Memphian!) Kris Keys on a special project she was doing while home on break from school. An amazing illustrator, she hired me to document an illustration sitting that she had with 3 stylish “models” one afternoon at Beauty Shop, a stylishly cool restaurant in our Cooper-Young area of Midtown. Turns out I knew all of the models; Crystal was one of my first portrait sessions (she’s also a super dope DJ!), Kim and I both run on the fashion scene, and Ms. Regina recently shopped with me. Can you say small world?
We shot during their lunch hour rush, so it was pretty exhilarating to shoot her while she painted; I constantly had to jump around to stay out of the servers’ way, and obviously, the patrons thought what she was doing was very, very cool.
Below is a peak at one of the portraits + images from the session; click here to see her full post.
I’m so thankful that Kris wanted to work with me on this. I love shooting traditional portraits + bloggers, but I’m looking to shoot more “lifestyle” projects like this, lookbooks, + other creative visual content with makers + brands this year. Fingers crossed that this is just the beginning!
