As a warm weather enthusiast, I’ve begun counting down the days til I can shed my heavy winter coat in favor of lighter layers and brighter looks. We’re weeks away, however, so I’m prepping my closet and filling it with essential pieces that will still let me rock current fashion trends but transition easily into Spring once it begins to warm up. While everything won’t make the switch (sorry faux-fur vests), there are a few staples that every woman (should) have in their closet to help you take your wardrobe into Spring.
Dark Floral Skirts
Floral patterns are synonymous with Spring, but if you aren’t quite ready for the bright, neon hues, darker florals (think muted grays, oxblood and cream combos) can still give you that feminine vibe but with a hint of sophistication.
Wear it now with tights and booties, and switch to gauzy knit tops and strappy sandals once it’s warm.
Trench Coat
On warmer days, skip your heavy-duty coat in favor of a classic trench. It’s a cool weather staple, for sure, but it can also be layered over blousy tops and paired with denim or leather leggings and chunky gold jewelry in the Spring for a more street style look.
Wear it now with denim trousers and a heavy-knit scarf to stay warm; layer over patterned shift dresses and stilettos for an extra chic look during the Spring.
Leopard Accents
A classic “trend” that will never go out of style, leopard pieces are typically styled with neutrals like black or tan, but a new way to elevate it into Spring will be pairing it with pastels or a pop of neon pink or cobalt blue. The unexpected combination is bold, but still on trend.
Wear it now as an accent piece (scarf, flats, clutches), but refresh the trend in a long cardigan or tunic topped with a thin neon belt and skinnies on milder days.
