I recently went to a small potluck dinner with friends where the “theme” was tacos, so I thought, what better time to make some homemade guacamole? It’s not hard to whip up at all, and I’ve found that when you add your own little tweaks to it, it’s an easy dish to make for taco Tuesdays, game night and beyond. My version was such a hit that everyone ate it up before the tacos were even done lmao. I made guac believers out of my people *fist pump*
- Ingredients:
2 ripe avocados - 1/2 a lemon
- 1/2 a lime
- 1/4 cup of pico de gallo (make fresh with equal parts of chopped tomatoes, onions, jalapeno’s + a dash of cilantro, or buy a premade packet from your grocer’s produce aisle)
- Dry guacamole seasoning (a mix of salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder + cumin, or save time and get a pack of the mix from the grocery store. Depends on if you want it really mild or bold/spicy)
Directions:
Scoop out the avocados and mash with a fork until desired consistency (I don’t like mine too creamy). Mix in dry seasoning to taste. Squeeze in lemon + lime juice (THIS IS THE KEY TO UNLOCKING ALL OF THE FLAVOR). Add in pico de gallo (I like a lot of it because I like a hefty guac), garnish with cilantro, and chill for 30 minutes before serving. Yum.
Some people like to skip the pico de gallo and just add diced tomatoes and/or salt + pepper, which is fine, but if you do nothing else, PLEASE add in the FRESH lemon + lime juice! This is what will elevate the flavor and have people asking you what did you put in it to make it so good, and will you make it forever and ever??
