Finally had a chance to pop into South Main Sushi + Grill a few weeks ago. One of my good friends that was in town met me on South Main after I finished a photoshoot (and was starving), so we walked down and grabbed a table to catch up.
They opened up last Fall, and I’d been meaning to get down there (especially after a hilarious exchange on Twitter. Whoever runs their SM does it well, lol), and lunch was the perfect time to go in. It was a warm, sunny day so most of their customers opted to sit outside in the sun, but we were happy to have the inside alone to ourselves.
The space use to be home to Grawwmeyer’s Tavern, a German-American restaurant, so the decor hasn’t changed that much, but it’s nice size with various seating options depending on your parties’ size. I kept my meal pretty simple: House Ginger Salad
and a Philly Salmon Roll + Spicy Crawfish Roll.
The ginger dressing on the salad was delicious, and the rolls were extremely fresh. Service was quick, but we didn’t feel rushed and were able to hang out a bit and just catch up.
While their traditional roll options are small, the overall menu actually has a lot to offer (they even have Lunch Boxes and other specials between 11a-3p). It’s also very affordable, so you can try out a lot without breaking the bank. They also have a pretty nice wine + spirits menu, so it’s a cute stop for date night or dinner with friends. It’s in a prime location (near G.E. Patterson), so I know it’s going to be a go-to spot once Summer hits and people come down for shopping and sightseeing. I’ll definitely be back!
