Over the weekend I stopped by Whole Foods (Poplar location) for the Mineral Fusion Road Show. This is the first time the Road Show has ever been in the Memphis market, so during the event, you can stop by the store for demos (complimentary makeovers), and the products are 40% off!
The MUA for that day was Kendra (K. Monique), and with Mineral Fusion being a natural skincare brand (they’re gluten free, cruelty fee and hypo-allergenic), the beauty theme for the day was polished, glowy skin.
As I waited to get my makeup done (I arrived fresh-faced with just a touch of moisturizer on), I took pictures and had beauty talk. This would be my first time trying out Mineral Fusion, but I do know a thing or two about makeup and skincare, so it was fun to talk about some of my favorite products and techniques with Kendra while she educated people about the brand and helped them pick out products.
In addition to the makeup and skincare, they also have a 100% vegan nail polish collection; I’m a sucker for great packaging and love to wear bright colors on my toes, so I picked out a few to take home with me (I cannot WAIT to get a pedi with Blaze, a red orange color w/a cream finish).
I wear a full but natural looking face every day, so we stayed with the look when it came time for her to do my makeup. I skip eyeshadow unless I’m going out, so that was a nice change (it gave my eyes a little more definition). I loved the finish of the liquid mineral foundation. It’s medium to full coverage and really lightweight, so it didn’t look like I had any on-only that I had dewy, fresh skin. For women that don’t like the feel of liquid foundation, this is a great option (and can be mixed with moisturizer if you feel like you need to cut it more and prefer to wear it like a tinted moisturizer).
My only wish with the line is that the liquid foundation range went a little bit deeper. It works for both pink and warmer undertones, so if they widen the range (which may be in the works because the pressed powders have a few more options), a multitude of women could wear it and would love it.
I had the most fun with Jessica; she’s from Memphis but was visiting from out of town. She’d been wanting to get some natural makeup, so when she heard about the Road Show, she figured it would be the perfect time. We talked about products, blogging (she’s not a blogger but reads them), and we enjoyed how open she was with trying out everything. A huge misconception with makeup is that if you wear a full-face it will automatically be cakey, but it’s honestly all about finding the right products for your skin and application technique.
The camera doesn’t do her justice-her makeup was FLAWLESS. Her skin was great to begin with (gotta start with a great canvas!) so the products just enhanced it.
The Mineral Fusion Road Show will be going on through Sunday, June 12th. Stop by the store to learn more. I went home with a few products so you’ll see more in-depth reviews on here soon.
