My cousin Stanley + I have been trying to get together for weeks and were finally able to pause our busy schedules and play catch up over dinner + drinks at Bahama Breeze. I was feeling kinda tropical in my kimono + had just finished an event at Wolfchase so I knew it was the perfect place to meet.
So Stanley is one of my most favorite people in the world (he is the only person that can make me laugh until I hyperventilate), and now that he’s back home to attend pharmacy school, we can actually hang out like we used to, only now that he’s an adult (23) drinks are involved. Ha!
Bahama Breeze is in the midst of #Rumtoberfest, so there are a ton of new items on their menu. We naturally started with cocktails, he with a Bahama Mama, and me with Mama’s Hooch + Holler, one of their rum cocktail flights (Bahama Mama, Bahamian Sunset + Goombay Smash).
I ordered a ceasar salad as an appetizer bc I’ve been obsessed with those lately, and he ordered the Firecracker Shrimp (which you KNOW I had to sample, lol). They’re crispy but still tender, but ZOMG, the sriracha aoli makes it next level. Like, they need to bottle it + sell it, it’s so good.
I knew that I wanted to have dessert so I kept it light and ordered the Shrimp & Mahi with Lemongrass Sauce Bowl (sautéed mahi mahi, shrimp, shiitake mushrooms, bok choy, sugar snap peas, edamame, + bell peppers in a coconut lemongrass sauce served over yellow rice). Fresh and flavorful, it was a good alternative to the fish tacos that I normally get. It’s filling but not heavy, which is always a plus.
He ordered the classic Jerk Chicken Pasta (sliced jerk chicken breast, fresh asparagus and mushrooms with a Parmesan cream sauce in bow-tie pasta). Their menu is extensive, so if all else fails, order this. I’ve had it multiple times and have never been disappointed.
We chatted about our busy lives (he just moved into his first apt away from home *cries* and I’ve been busier than ever with blogging and work) and just enjoyed the patio. It was warm with a breeze, so we could actually sit outside without sweating to death, lol.
Dinner isn’t complete without dessert, so we split a slice of Coconut Cream Pie, which was creamy + sweet and satisfied our sweet tooth. The slice was so big we couldn’t even eat it all.
It was an afternoon well spent and some very much needed family time.
If you want to stop by for #Rumtoberfest, it’s going on through November 6th. Every Friday there are special events, and there’s a selfie sweepstakes happening as well. Click here for more info!
