901 Grille + Market celebrated their Grand Opening this week, and I was able to swing by for a private tasting. Offering both regional + international flavors, 901 Grille + Market is set to serve as a go-to spot for quick dishes in Cooper-Young.
Owners Hamida and Sunny Mandani are the owners of City Market in both Midtown and Downtown, so once that property became available (at the corner of East Parkway + Central), they jumped on the chance to open up a new deli and market concept.
The menu is a nice mix of fast, casual meals: in addition to salads, burgers and wings, you can get falafel and garden burgers, gyros made from locally sourced groceries and dry goods, and even a few vegetarian options. They even have milkshakes. I met my friend Sophorn for a quick lunch and had the beef + lamb gyro with cajun fries (not pictured: Peanut Butter + Banana Milkshake):
Sophorn had a burger, fries + milkshake.
Service was quick, and the food was hot and delicious. The beef + lamb were wonderfully seasoned and the veggies were crunchy + fresh. The fries were like home-cooked steak fries, so you didn’t need ketchup unless you just had to have it. And the milkshake? Creamy and sweet without being over the top. I work about 5 minutes away from the location and enjoyed the meal so much that I went back the next day for lunch (I had the Garden Pita + fries. Yummy as expected). The pricing is no different from any fast-food restaurant (less than $10 for sandwich + fries) and the portions are great, so if you’re pressed for time but want something GOOD to eat, it’s a fantastic option.
