Denim overalls have made a resurgence over the last few seasons. They’re no longer super baggy, making you look like an extra from a 90’s movie, but they’re not overly stuffy like you work on a farm either.
The new silhouette is a little more fitted but not tight; basically, you want them to fit like your favorite pair of denim. Doesn’t matter if they have a cropped length, flare or just a slim hem, as long as they fit you properly through the hips and thighs, you’re good.
The cool thing about them is that you can still wear pretty much any type of top you want: tank, sleeveless, ruffles, button up, even a cashmere sweater (if it’s cool where you are that is. Don’t try that in the Memphis heat!)

A few things to keep in mind when wearing overalls:
- Put a little makeup on. Yes, this can be a chill piece to wear, but you still want to look put together even if you’re throwing on an easy tee with them.
- Keep your hair simple. High maintenance hair will just look weird with overalls, so don’t over do it.
- If the fit is a little looser, try it with heels for a high/lo look. A cropped or skinny leg will look super cute wedges or clogs.
- Don’t be afraid to accessorize. I’m not saying bling it out, but a statement necklace can easily dress up a distressed pair.
