For the past few years, I’ve mostly worn skinny denim. The cut has been the most flattering on my frame, but I got my first pair of girlfriend denim a few weeks ago and I can’t believe it took me so long!
Slimmer than your traditional boyfriend jeans but more relaxed than a straight leg or skinny cut, the girlfriend cut is a fun style that can be dressed down (like I did with this denim shirt and silver flats) or easily dressed up with strappy sandals and a blouse or kimono. If you’ve ever wanted to do that whole urban, uptown downtown look with a fancy top and casual bottoms, this is the perfect style for it.
I got these from Banana Republic Factory and I love them so much. I wear them at least twice a week; I made sure that I got an ankle length since I’m so short; I can wear them with both flats and heels and they won’t drag on the ground or look too short.
They’re also available in a non-distressed version and a darker wash that I think I may go back and get. I like that they sit a little lower on the waist (but they are NOT lowrise), and I can cuff them if I want.
I love jeans that I can throw on with just about anything, and these were way more comfortable than I thought. It’s amazing what you can discover when you step outside of your comfort zone!
