When the seasons start to change, so should your skincare and beauty needs, so I was excited to receive the Fall 2017 edition of Redbook’s signature Red Beauty Box. Filled with goodies to help you look your best this season, this year’s collection didn’t disappoint.
First up was the Curél® Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer, an after shower moisturizer designed to help replenish skin’s ceramide levels and repair the moisture barrier. Your pores are open when you step out of the shower, so if you want super supple skin, moisturizing before you dry off will help lock it in. This is an old-school step that I’ve practiced for years; Curél® Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer is greaseless, however, so gone is that fear of slipping in the tub (this HAS happened, lol). It immediately absorbs into your skin and is fragrance free, so you won’t be a greasy mess and it won’t compete with your perfume. Skin looks and feels hydrated, which is a must for when it’s cold.
I love a good mask (I try to do one at least once a week), so Mary Kay’s Clear Proof Deep-Cleansing Charcoal Mask came right on time. Activated charcoal is a “trendy” ingredient right now, but it really does work with pulling impurities from the skin. Mary Kay’s version also includes kaolin and bentonite, so it boosts the mask’s absorbency so that excess oil is absorbed (your skin will look matte when done). It has a cooling effect when your first apply it (rosemary and peppermint extract are included), and you can feel it tightening as it dries down, which is nice. It doesn’t dry you completely out, however, and your skin feels soft once it’s rinsed off. Add your usual serums and moisturizer once you’re done and you’re good to go.
I’ve never tried an eye mask before, so I was really excited to try MegRhythm’s Gentle Steam Mask. It uses an advanced self-heating technology and is designed to moisten and relax tired eyes while hydrating the surrounding skin. I am always moving, so this forced me to sit down for a few minutes to rest. I fixed a cup of tea, turned on some music and put my mask on. Mine was lavender scented so I was instantly relaxed once I put it on. You don’t realize how much you will appreciate a warm compress over your eyes until you apply one of these, so this was a nice little 10 minute treat. They’re individually packed, so these are awesome for travel and at-home spa days with friends.
If you have peach fuzz or other unwanted hair on your face, the Finishing Touch Flawless Hair Removal device is for you. The small device has a hypoallergenic, 18k gold-plated head that instantly removes hair without any pain or irritation. You literally turn it on and just apply it in circular motions wherever you want to remove hair. It has a built in light to help guide you, and thankfully, hair won’t grow back thicker. I’ve shaved my face before (your makeup will go on unbelievably smooth whenever you do this), and I definitely like this better (no nicks!). The little device is easy to clean-it’s quite shocking how much tiny hair we have on our faces!
I don’t like when my hair is flat, so Sexy Hair’s Big Sexy Hair Powder Play Lite Soft Volumizing + Texturizing Powder was right up my alley. This powder was made to give instant volume and texture when applied to the roots. It evenly mists out powder in a cloud-like spray (luckily only a little at a time so you can pace yourself) and it gives your hair a little boost once you mix it in. I was a bit nervous the first time I used it since it comes out white and I have dark hair, but thankfully, it disappears. This is great on days when my hair is oily but I want to fluff it up a bit; it gives me the texture I like without making it hard or sticky like hairspray does.
I really enjoyed everything in this box, my favorite being the Curél® Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer. My skin can get really dry, but I loved how hydrated my skin look and felt after using it (especially my hands, since I wash them all of the time). Thanks Redbook!
Have you used any of these products before? Thoughts?

I do too! It’s just as hydrating as the baby oil gel that I normally use but not as greasy. I will definitely be restocking it.
