It’s hard to believe but Thanksgiving is only 2 weeks away (eek!). I typically celebrate with family and friends, but I also take the time out to whip up a few things to keep at home as well. I forgo a turkey in favor of a ham or chicken thighs (depends on my mood), but I especially look forward to finding yummy recipes for my sides.
Sides (and appetizers) make your meal; depending on how you grew up, there are certain staples (mac ‘n’ cheese, yams/sweet potatoes, stuffing or dressing) that will always be at the table, and if you’re a “foodie” you’re open to having them different ways . I love modern twists on traditional holiday favorites, so here’s a roundup of 7 easy Thanksgiving recipes to try:
Classic Traditional Thanksgiving Stuffing
Million Dollar Macaroni and Cheese
Caramelized Onion Mushroom Apple Gruyere Bites
Slow Cooker Cranberry BBQ Meatballs
Roasted Maple Dijon Brussels Sprouts and Butternut Squash with Cranberries and Bacon
Caramel Apple Cream Cheese Spread
I also love to make cranberry sauce from scratch (it’s SO good and almost too easy to make); you can have it with your meal but also save some for breakfast with a yummy muffin. One year I’ll bite the bullet and actually host a dinner, but for now, I’ll stick to my extras that help me get through the craziness that’s Black Friday without having to spend extra money on food. Ha!
