Velvet is one of those “trends” that comes around every Fall + Winter, but the actual must-have item always changes. This year? I think everyone needs a velvet blazer. It’s a stylish alternative to your every day blazer, and if you’re someone that doesn’t like traditional holiday dresses or skirts, you can create a pretty chic look with a velvet blazer and a pair of leather pants or even denim. With the right color palette, you can even pull off velvet on velvet!
I’ve already purchased 2 (this black one by Dex Clothing from local boutique Southern Muse + this wine one from Old Navy that’s also available in black + emerald) and can’t wait to wear them to holiday parties and dinners this season. I love the classic shape of both, but especially love the ruched sleeves on the Dex Clothing one because it means I don’t have to get it altered and you can actually see my bracelets! I also like that it’s slightly longer so I can wear it with my leather leggings and it covers my bum.
