On Saturday I attended Art By Design, ArtsMemphis’ annual fundraising event that features gorgeous vignettes designed by some of Memphis’ top interior designers and design firms. I attended last year (read about it here) and loved it, but this year was a super special treat because I got to see my friend Andrea Fenise’s “Turn Your Room Into A Wardrobe” Tour.
A series that she first launched on her blog back in 2014 (check out those posts here), last year she was able to bring it to life “offline” and use her stylist background to create looks to coordinate with each individual designer’s vignette. With each set being so different from the next, each “woman” she styled an outfit for never had to worry about someone else stealing their look. Ha!
In addition to pulling pieces from Memphis Fashion Week designers (both past and present), she worked with local boutiques including 20twelve, Southern Muse, and Spruce. It was fun to see the pairings and hear her explain her inspiration behind each one. Here’s a peek at more of the looks:
Obsessed with this crushed velvet bell-sleeve dress from katebridal.
Andrea with Carmeon Hamilton (Nubi Interiors) in her vignette. Let me tell you, I’m so excited that Carmeon was part of Art By Design. She’s the first African American Interior Designer to participate (a HUGE coup), and her vignette’s set up was a collaborative effort as well. Artist Frances Berry sketched all over the walls to create custom “wallpaper”, and Kristin with Everbloom Design provided a gorgeous floral arrangement. I love when creatives come together!
This corner was so poplar. I meeeean, Yeezus with bright pink hair? I’m here for it.
All of the vignettes were beautiful, and I encourage everyone to attend Art By Design when it comes around. In addition to the vignettes, they have stellar programming (there were panel discussions and various presentations) and it’s just a visually stimulating event if you love interior design and style.
