Day 2 of the Memphis Fashion Week Runway Shows took place at Memphis College of Art. These shows are actually the most anticipated because the EMDP Members show the collections that they’ve been working on for the year. MCA’s layout (square floor plan with stairs in the middle going down) helps to play up the energy when the models walk, so I truly love attending this show. Everyone’s creativity is so different, so you while we’re privy to the sketches when they’re promoting the event, it’s nothing like seeing the pieces come alive.
EMDP showcases teen, single, and mini design collections from more than a dozen emerging Memphis designers each year; here’s highlights from the show plus a little city style mixed in.
Siss Viss’ Collection was AMAZING (the frames they’re wearing were sponsored by Eclectic Eye). Her “Hoodoos” Collection was shown while Memphis musical artists Brennan Villines and Jana Misener performed and it was a haunting experience. She received a well deserved standing ovation at the end.
I had a great time as usual and can’t wait til next year!
