It’s funny how much a yellow blouse can seriously brighten up your day. I never shy away from color, but I tend to stick to more muted shades, but I couldn’t resist this blousy crepe top from Dress Barn. It’s so hot and humid here in the Summer, a girl needs clothing that BREATHES, ya know?
Speaking of Summer, can you believe that it’s August already?! Despite the heat, I have been enjoying the sunshine and being outdoors, however I have begun my countdown for Fall. The season doesn’t fully commit to being here until late October/early November, BUT, I realized many years ago that we begin to get a taste of Autumn crispness the weekend of Southern Heritage Classic (it’s warm during the day and chilly at night). It’s usually held the second weekend of September (this year it’s Sept 6-8) so that is my personal official start to Fall.
I cleaned out my entire closet last week (like, seriously reorganized it. It was an all-day event), but it’s almost time to start thinking about what pieces am I going to pull out to transition my wardrobe into Fall. I may have to retire this blouse by then, but I should still be able to wear these denim capris with a mule and a gauzy sweater. I usually get all of my denim from the same place, but I received these c/o Dress Barn and they fit so good! They come up slightly higher on the waist and have a touch of stretch so that they hug you but you can still move around in them. The embroidered detail around the ankles is fun too.

You would think that I would be over clothes after my closet clean out (I knew I had a lot of clothes but I reeeeeeally didn’t know), but what it showed me was that I am still missing some key foundational pieces that I need, especially with us now being in the latter part of Summer. I don’t want to buy a ton of new stuff (there’s seriously no point), but I have started a list of essentials I will need to add in to refresh what I already own.
Have you started thinking about your Fall wardrobe yet?
