Last month I traveled to Dayton Beach, FL with my friend Michael to shoot content for The Shores Resort + Spa, a AAA Four-Diamond luxury boutique hotel that sits directly on the Atlantic Ocean. I hadn’t been to the beach in over a year so I was thrilled to fly down to work with the resort.
While a lot of people travel to Daytona for motorsports and other sporting events, The Shores Resort + Spa is a great alternative to that. The grounds are beautiful and the staff is inviting and nice (in a real way, not in that “hospitable” way that’s expected), so it’s the perfect place to go to relax, recharge and get pampered.
There’s nothing like waking up to an ocean front view and enjoying room service on your balcony.
Michael and I mostly worked while we were there (we had a lot of ground to cover), BUT, we were able to take a break to get much needed pedicures from their nail specialist Cindy (seriously, we both blacked out for a good 30 minutes because she’s so good) and indulge in some of the most delicious food and cocktails from their onsite restaurant (Azure Oceanfront American Kitchen) and Bar (Oceanview Lounge Bar).
The food was so, so, so good ya’ll. I love classic cuisine with a creative spin on it; my standout favorites were the Coffee Braised Short Ribs with grilled gorgonzola polenta and crispy brussel sprouts and the Shores S’mores Torte (made with warm smoked chocolate Torte, whipped marshmallow crème, toasted marcona almond & graham crumble and a brandied cherry). Their young chef incorporates recipes from his childhood with classic favorites for a uniquely blended menu that everyone will love.
We also enjoyed signature and specialty cocktails with the bartender Ecko while we grabbed a quick snack, watched the game (which game? that I don’t know bc I don’t know sports haha) and took pictures of the bar.
The Island Shark or the Azurtini? You really can’t go wrong either way!
There’s always room for shrimp tacos!
If you prefer to chill on the beach or by the pool all day, the Tiki Bar also has yummy options as well. I love a good frozen drink, and their Lava Flow daquiri didn’t disappoint!
While a lot of people like to fill their days with all the things when they travel, I operate based on where I go. Because this is a resort & spa, I feel like you should really take advantage of what it has to offer. Instead of running around everywhere, relax and indulge a little bit so that you can recharge. That’s the whole point of being there, no?
While the trip was for work, the atmosphere was so chill and relaxing and made for a much needed getaway. The Shores Resort & Spa is one to visit if you travel to Daytona. Click here to learn more about them and the packages that they offer.
