I will always have my holy grail beauty products, but I still have fun trying out new makeup. I very seldom rush out to buy products right when they’re released; I prefer to either be inspired by the product (I am a sucker for bright lipsticks in the Summer), or to need something specific (I’m still hunting for the perfect waterproof mascara). Playing in makeup is such a fun, relaxing outlet for me (fun fact: I wanted to be a makeup artist back in the day), so there’s no need to buy something as soon as it drops-if it’s on my radar I’ll get to it eventually. Recently I picked up some new products from Ulta + MAC and they’re quickly moving up my favorites list.
NYX Professional Makeup Bare With Me Tinted Skin Veil, $13
I’m one of those people that enjoys wearing foundation even though I don’t necessarily need it, but because it’s so hot and humid right now, I wanted to find something lighter that would look like skin, but a little bit better. I’ve tried tinted moisturizers before but don’t wear them as much because it’s hard to find a good match (they’re usually either too yellow or too light so I have to mix them with bronzing gels or correctors), but I tested out NYX’s Bare With Me Tinted Skin Veil and fell. in. love. The match is almost perfect, and I like that it’s actually buildable but not heavy, which is a huge thing for me. I can layer it a little heavier on certain areas where I need it, and once I add in concealer (this one by ColourPop is SO GOOD), my skin looks great: even, fresh, but not too dewy.
Mac Powder Blush, $24
Blush is one of my favorite makeup products to wear, and I tend to lean towards a warm, bronze color 99% of the time. I’ve been wanting a more peachy matte color (so many blushes have built in shimmer but I like the option of wearing it alone or adding a highlighter if I want the extra boost), so I popped into MACY’s to pick up a new shade. I typically wear MAC’s Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Dark Deep (it’s such a pretty shade on brown skin), but their Powder Blush in Coppertone is PERFECT. It gives me a nice flush without being too bronzy, so I’ll be able to wear this once the minor tan I have starts to fade without looking like I fake baked. It gives me a nice, pretty glow.
Morphe Liquid Lipstick, $10
I’ve been wanting to try more of Morphe’s products since they’re now being carried in Ulta (I know they’re a little controversial but I have a few shadow palettes that I really, really like), so I decided to pick up one of their Liquid Lipsticks since I ran out of the other one (from another brand) that I always wear. I picked up the Peanut shade and it’s a pretty brown/nude that’s gorgeous on tan and brown skin. It has a slightly warmer pigment than the nude I usually wear but I’m not mad at it at all. It lasts long + isn’t too drying (if you stay away from liquid lipsticks because you think they’re drying, just layer them over a lip balm) and it has been perfect for every day, no matter how I wear my makeup. I will definitely pick up more colors because I like the formula + the price point is good.
You hit the nail in the head on this one! Nyx is one of my staple products because it doesn’t break me out even if I wear them on the daily. Plus, they’re much less expensive compared to other brands.
yeees! the product quality is so good and at such an affordable price!
