This past Saturday was a busy but fun day for me. I had 2 blogger shoots lined up that day but they were 8 hours apart, so after my first shoot, I took a little time for some retail therapy (I stopped by H&M for their massive sale, Barnes & Noble, Madewell and Anthropologie) and a solo lunch.
I knew that I wanted to support a locally owned business for lunch, so I stopped by El Mero Taco. El Mero Taco started off as a food truck (I blogged about them here), but last Summer husband and wife duo Jacob and Clarissa Dries opened their first restaurant in Cordova. I didn’t want anything heavy to eat, so I knew tacos would be a good choice. Although their menu is a little limited now due to COVID, there was still plenty to choose from. I decided on the Smoked Habanero Shrimp Tacos (Shrimp sautéed in a smoked habanero sauce with avocado-lime slaw and cilantro) with a side of Mexican Street Corn (Off the cob and served chilled. Parmesan cheese, spicy mayo, red onion and cilantro).
I love all things spicy, and their smoked habanero sauce has just enough kick for me without it being overpowering. The shrimp was plump and juicy and the flavor combination with the avocado-lime was perf. I really liked the Mexican Street Corn as well. while it was made with spicy mayo, the corn itself was sweet so it was a great balance with the tacos. I sat on the patio and did a little reading while I enjoyed lunch and it was the perfect little spot for the day.
They have a drink menu as well, but since I had another shoot on my schedule I only had a sweet tea. I’ll be going back soon, though, because how can you eat tacos without enjoying a margarita??
