Cheers to the weekend! The day of looooooove (Valentine’s Day) is this Sunday, and with life being so different right now due to Rona, it’s hard to celebrate it like you may want to. With that being said, that doesn’t mean that the day has to fall flat, and even if you’re a single gal or enjoy Galentine’s Day instead, there are still ways to enjoy Valentine’s Day this weekend. Here are 5 simple ways to enjoy Valentine’s Day at home.
Stock up on bubbly and candy and treats.
Are they cheesy elements to the day? Mmmm, maybe, but they’re also necessary and there’s no point in celebrating if you’re not gonna indulge, lol. You can get some flowers as well, but they’re going to be hard to come by this weekend so don’t feel bad if you can’t. I picked up this delicious Chic Cava Rosé, locally made candies and chocolates from The Curb Market in Crosstown Concourse and they’re a sweet treat and upgrade from the norm.
Plan for a yummy menu.
No one should be cooking on Valentine’s Day (unless you’re taking a class together which is unfortunately not an option right now), so decide what you want for dinner ahead of time. It doesn’t have to be anything super expensive, it just needs to be a meal that you both absolutely love and can be ordered for takeout. The only other exception for this is if you decide to make something sweet together, and you both have cute little aprons to wear while you’re in the kitchen. Want to take it up a notch and make it even more romantic? Nix eating at the dining table, and use your coffee table or create a picnic in your living room. Light a ton of candles and keep the lights low while you talk, sip wine, and listen to a good playlist (whoever has the better ear is in charge of that!).
Play a game or have trivia night.
It can be something fun, or something flirty but kicking off your night with a fun game is a great way to have a memorable night. Don’t get too competitive (we don’t want the night to end in an argument, lol), but do keep it interesting so that you both enjoy the evening.
Have a romantic movie marathon.
Set a start time for bingeing, and each pick out 2 movies that you absolutely love that are romantic in tone. Have your favorite snacks set up and keep your phones in another room so that you can pretend like you’re at the movie theater and can really enjoy the films together. Taking a few hours to tune out the rest of the world together does wonders for the soul.
Have your own Spa Day.
Pick up a set of fresh towels, new robes and other essential items (oils, masks and scrubs), and have your own Spa day together. You can even throw in little massages for one another, but keep it to things that are simple and fun that you don’t have to think too hard about. Create a playlist of your favorite songs and enjoy each other’s company while you relax in the bath or apply facial masks.
There are so many different things that you can do this weekend to celebrate Valentine’s Day, and as long as you are enjoying each other’s company, that is all that matters!
